Pharmacological properties

Lauromacrogol 400 has a sclerosing and at the same time local analgesic effect. Due to this, almost painless obliteration of varicose veins is provided. The action is directed mainly at the endothelium. Lauromacrogol 400 has a high affinity for damaged endothelium, and does not act on intact areas, so the sclerosing effect occurs only in a truly varicose veins, and not just in a cylindrically moderately dilated vein. The sclerosing effect is based on irritation of the damaged venous endothelium, which causes local thrombosis. Due to the tight fixation bandage applied after the injection, the vein walls are compressed, which prevents recanalization of the thrombus that forms, and thus the desired transformation of the thrombus into a fibrous scar. In the case of the correct choice of concentration and dosage, as well as the correct technique of treatment and care of the patient at the stage of recovery (compression treatment) lauromacrogol 400 provides a reliable and long-term obliteration.

Etoxisclerol 1% Pharmacokinetics.

As early as 12 hours after intravenous injection of lauromacrogol 400, 89% of the administered dose is removed from the blood. As a result of the study in patients with varicose veins (diameter greater than 3 mm) after administration of Ethoxysclerol 3%, the following indicators were found: terminal half-life – 0.94-1.27 hours, volume of distribution – 17.9 liters, total clearance – 12.4 l / hour.
