Octenisept is prescribed to treat the following conditions: for repeated, time-limited treatment of mucous membranes and surrounding skin before diagnostic and surgical procedures in the anogenital area: vagina, vulva, glans penis, before bladder catheterization for oral cavity treatment; for antiseptic treatment of local bacterial and fungal infections in the vaginal area; for time-limited maintenance therapy of mycosis of the interdigital spaces and for antiseptic treatment of wounds and burns of various origins.

This Octenisept drug is classified as an antiseptic and disinfectant.
This medicine is used to treat mucous membranes, skin and wounds. The active substance is classified as a cationic compound.
It contains two cationic centers that have pronounced surface properties. The drug enters into a reaction with wall substances and membranes of bacterial cells.
This causes disruption of the vital functions of pathogens. The antimicrobial effect is manifested due to the fact that the permeability of cell membranes for potassium ions increases.
The medicine exhibits bactericidal and fungicidal activity.
It is also effective against lipophilic viruses and hepatitis B virus.
Octenisept is prescribed to treat the following conditions:

The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
In pediatrics, the drug is used after 8 years.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is allowed to be used by pregnant women and during breastfeeding.
Method of administration and dosage
Octenisept is applied undiluted, applied to the affected area until completely moist.
Further procedures, for example, applying a surgical bandage, can be carried out at least 2 minutes after using the drug. It is also possible to rinse the mouth, but this method of use is limited to cases where it is necessary to treat the entire oral cavity. In this case, it is necessary to apply 20 ml of the drug within 20 seconds.
For maintenance therapy in cases of mycosis of the interdigital spaces, the drug should be sprayed onto the affected areas in the morning and evening.
To insert the applicator deep into the vagina, it is recommended to sit on the toilet or lie in bed. Press your index finger on the applicator cap 10 times to distribute the drug deep into the vagina. After use, wipe the applicator and press the spray once or twice, pointing the applicator downward, such as over a sink. The duration of treatment should be 7 days, on the first day the drug should be used in the morning and evening, and then – once a day in the evening.
When applied topically, the likelihood of overdose is very low. In case of local overdose, the affected area can be flushed with plenty of Ringer’s solution.
The drug is usually well tolerated when used in the recommended doses.
The following side effects may occur:
- burning, redness, itching, feeling of warmth at the site of application;
- swelling, induration, pain, blisters, eczema in the area of application.
Storage conditions and periods
Expiration date – up to 3 years from the production date indicated on the package. Storage periods should not be exceeded.
Storage temperature should not exceed 25 ° C. Temperature deviations can change the properties of the preparation, therefore it should always be stored in its original packaging.
