This drug Ofloxacin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria susceptible to ofloxacin. In particular, infections: lower and upper respiratory tract, auditory canals; soft tissues, bones and joints; organs of the abdominal cavity (typhus, salmonellosis, shigellosis, etc.); pelvic organs, kidneys and urinary tract, genitals (including prostatitis, gonorrhea, non-gonococcal urethitis and cervicitis).
Main active ingredients: ofloxacin.
Auxiliary components: potato starch, hydroxypropyl cellulose, povidone, croscarmellose sodium, calcium stearate.
It is produced in the form of tablets, in a dosage of 200 mg ofloxacin.
This pharmaceutical product Ofloxacin belongs to the group of antibacterial drugs, which are based on pharmaceutical substances of the fluoroquinolone group.
Ofloxacin, which is the main active ingredient of the drug. It is an antibacterial substance that has a wide spectrum of action.
The mechanism of bactericidal action should be attributed to the property of blocking the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is present in bacteria.
Able to fight infections against which drugs of the penicillin, amyglycoside, cephalosporin groups are powerless. Including the drug is active against infections caused by aerobic gram-negative bacteria: Klebsiella, Salmonella, Proteus, Shigella, Enterobacteriaceae, Cytobacterium, Moraxella, Helicobacter pylori, and other microorganisms pathological for humans.
Also effective in the fight against aerobic gram-positive bacteria, in particular, against staphylococci, streptococci, chlamydia, mycobacteria.
Not effective in the treatment of viruses, fungi, treponema, protozoa.
This drug Ofloxacin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria susceptible to ofloxacin. In particular, infections:
- lower and upper respiratory tract, auditory canals;
- soft tissues, bones and joints;
- organs of the abdominal cavity (typhus, salmonellosis, shigellosis, etc.);
- pelvic organs, kidneys and urinary tract, genitals (including prostatitis, gonorrhea, non-gonococcal urethitis and cervicitis).
It is also used for the prevention of infections during surgical interventions, including in patients with weakened immunity.
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or to one of the auxiliary components.
It is contraindicated for use in patients who have a reduced seizure threshold, in particular, with epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, stroke, inflammation of the brain.
It is not recommended to administer ofloxacin within 4 hours after taking medications that contain magnesium (magnesium sulfate), aluminum (maalox), iron (iron lactate), zinc (zinc sulfate), sucralfate.
When taken simultaneously with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the risk of seizures increases.
The drug should not be used in the treatment of children.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is contraindicated in the treatment of pregnant women.
If it is necessary to administer the drug during breastfeeding, then lactation should be suspended for the duration of treatment.

This Ofloxacin is intended for oral administration. Dosage – individual, prescribed by the attending physician.
The average dosage is from 200 to 400 mg of the drug 2 times a day, that is, the total daily dose can be from 400 or 800 mg per day.
If a dose of 400 mg is prescribed, then it is usually taken once a day, in the morning. Large doses are taken divided into 2 doses – morning and evening, after 12 hours.
Uncomplicated gonorrhea of the urethra and cervical canal can be treated with a single dose of 400 mg ofloxacin.
The duration of the course of treatment is from 2 to 10 days; in case of chronic diseases, the treatment can be extended, but not longer than 2 months.
With kidney disease, the dosage of the drug is reduced.
Overdose cases are extremely rare, therefore, little studied.
In case of acute overdose, symptomatic treatment with supportive therapy should be undertaken.
Reducing the level of ofloxacin in the blood is promoted, albeit to a small extent, by hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
