Opatanol (olopatadine) eye drops 0.1% 5 ml. vial


The drug Opatanol is used and prescribed for the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.



Opatanol composition
1 ml of drops contains: olopatadin 1 mg, as an active component, as additional substances in the composition are designated: benzalkonium chloride, sodium phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid (to adjust pH), and purified water.

Release form
Produced in the form of eye drops, which are a transparent, colorless or light yellow liquid in dropper bottles of 5 ml.

Pharmacological properties
The drug Opatanol is intended for use in ophthalmology as an anti-allergic and decongestant agent. Eye drops act on the cells of the conjunctiva, suppressing the release of the main mediator of allergic reactions (histamine) and inflammatory mediators, eliminating the symptoms and signs that accompany seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.

Indications for use
The drug Opatanol is used and prescribed for the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis.

The drug is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to drug components.

In pediatrics, it is used for children from 3 years old.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding period
Pregnancy and lactation is a contraindication for taking the drug.

Mode of application
For adults and children over the age of 3 years, the drug Opatanol is used in a dose of 1 drop 2 times a day into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye with an interval of 8 hours.
If necessary, the duration of use can be up to 4 months.
Depending on the severity and nature of the disease, the duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually for each patient.

There are no data on cases of overdose.
If you adhere to the instructions for using the drug and do not exceed the doses indicated in it, there can be no overdose.

Adverse reactions
The use of drops can cause the manifestation of various adverse reactions: headache, dysgeusia, eye pain, eye irritation, dry eye, abnormal sensitivity of the eyes, dry nose, increased fatigue. Also possible: hypersensitivity, edema of the cornea and eyes, swelling of the eyes and face, mydriasis, conjunctivitis, visual impairment, shortness of breath, sinusitis, vomiting, dermatitis, nausea, erythema, asthenia and malaise.
In very rare cases, the use of the drug can lead to the following side effects: rhinitis, hypesthesia, dizziness, contact dermatitis, dry skin, burning sensation on the skin, corneal erosion, keratitis, eye discharge, corneal coloration, photophobia, blurred vision and decreased visual acuity, itchy eyes, blepharospasm, sensation of a foreign body in the eye, impairment of the conjunctiva, increased lacrimation, erythema of the eyelids.

Storage conditions
The drug should be stored in its original and closed packaging, at a temperature not exceeding + 25 ° C, out of reach of children, out of direct sunlight.
