Orcerin (diacerein) capsules 50 mg. №30

Orcerin  composition
The main active ingredient of the drug is diacerein.
The auxiliary substances are: lactose monohydrate, cyclodextrinin, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, gelatin, titanium dioxide, etc.

Release form
The drug is produced in the form of capsules, 50 mg of diacerein in 1 capsule.

Pharmacological properties
This drug Orcerin belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drugs.
The specified drug is a chondroprotector that produces an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, which is used in the treatment of joint diseases that produce degenerative changes in them.
The drug is able to reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines using macrophages and synoviocytes, inhibit myeloperoxidase, beta-glucuronidase, and elastase, and reduce the amount of metalloproteinases contained in cartilage. It has the property to stimulate the synthesis of glucosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid.
Produces an anabolic and anti-catabolic effect on the joint cartilage, restoring its functions. The effect of the drug appears after 2-4 weeks.

This drug Orcerin is used for symptomatic treatment:

osteoarthritis (a common degenerative joint disease);

osteoarthritis (degenerative-dystrophic disease of the joints, which causes damage to the cartilage tissue of the joint).

Not applicable if the patient has hypersensitivity (allergy) to one of the components that make up the drug.
Due to the lactose content, the drug should not be used if the patient has hereditary galactose intolerance, there is a Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption is impaired.
It is permissible to combine the intake with analgesics (in the first month of treatment), other non-steroidal drugs. Diacerein should be discontinued during antibiotic treatment and during chemotherapy. Also, do not take this drug with other substances that affect intestinal peristalsis.
Do not take with intestinal obstruction or with imaginary intestinal obstruction, as well as with abdominal pain of unknown origin, inflammatory bowel disease.
Use with caution in chronic renal failure.
It is not recommended to take on an empty stomach, and foods with fiber or other plant foods should not be consumed with meals.
It should not be taken simultaneously with medicines that contain aluminum and magnesium hydroxide (these substances reduce the absorption of diacerein).
Enhances the action of non-narcotic analgesics.
It is not recommended for patients over the age of 65.
Stop taking this drug if you have diarrhea.

It is not used in pediatrics.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
It is contraindicated to use for the treatment of pregnant women, as it can complicate the course of pregnancy.
Breastfeeding should be stopped while the drug is being used.

Method of administration and dosage
The dosage and duration of treatment with this drug is determined by the attending physician, who takes into account the individual nature of the course of the disease and the performance of the patient’s body as a whole.
Adults usually take 1 capsule of Orcerin with meals, twice a day, morning and evening. Capsules are taken with water without breaking.
With a creatinine clearance of more than 30 mg per 1 ml, the dosage is reduced to 1 capsule per day.
In some cases, in order to adapt the body, during the first month, the drug is taken 1 capsule per day, only then they switch to a standard dosage.
The minimum duration of treatment lasts on average at least 3 months. The effect of the drug persists for 3 months after the end of admission.
It is permissible to use this drug for several years, if the patient’s condition requires it.

An overdose of this drug can cause an increase in side effects, most often a symptom such as diarrhea (diarrhea) is manifested.
As a treatment, it is recommended to reduce the dosage until the drug is discontinued.
Treatment of symptoms is also recommended.

Side effects
Therapy with this drug can cause side reactions in the form of:

  • accelerated bowel movement (diarrhea), which is a passing symptom;
  • pain in the epigastric region;
  • nausea;
  • vomiting;
  • coloration of urine in an intense yellow color (has no clinical significance).

Storage conditions and periods
The shelf life of the drug is no more than 3 years from the production date indicated on the package.
Store in a dry place out of the reach of children, at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
