Method of administration and dosage
Panadol Baby is intended for oral administration (by mouth).
Before use, the contents of the bottle must be shaken well. A measuring syringe is included in the package, which allows you to rationally and correctly dose the medicine.
The dose depends on the age and body weight of the child. For children older than 3 months, a single dose is indicated – 15 mg / kg x 3-4 times / day, the maximum daily dose is 60 mg / kg. If necessary, the recommended dose can be given every 4–6 hours, but no more than 4 doses within 24 hours.
In all other cases, a doctor’s consultation is necessary before taking the medicine.
Permissible duration of admission without consulting a doctor: to lower the temperature – no more than 3 days; for pain relief – no more than 5 days.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. In the absence of a therapeutic effect, a doctor’s consultation is mandatory.
Signs of acute poisoning are pain in the stomach, nausea, sweating, vomiting, pale skin. After a few days, there are signs of liver damage (increased activity of liver enzymes, pain in the liver). In severe cases, liver failure, encephalopathy, and coma develop. With prolonged use in excess of the recommended dose, nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic effects (nonspecific bacteriuria, renal colic, papillary necrosis, interstitial nephritis) may occur.
Overdose treatment: stop using the drug, immediately seek medical help.
Gastric lavage and intake of enterosorbents are recommended. Acetylcysteine is a specific antidote for paracetamol poisoning.
In case of accidental overdose, see a doctor immediately, even if the child is feeling well.
At the recommended doses, paracetamol usually has no side effects. Sometimes nausea, pain in the stomach, allergic manifestations (skin rash, urticaria, itching, Quincke’s edema), changes in the blood test (anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia) are possible.
