Pimafucin (natamycin) coated tablets 100 mg. №20

Pimafucin composition
active substance: natamycin;
1 tablet contains natamycin 100 mg;
excipients: potato starch; povidone; magnesium stearate; lactose monohydrate; gelatin; acacia (gum arabic); methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218); calcium carbonate; kaolin; talc; cellulose acetyl phthalate; triacetin; opaglos 6000 (shellac, white wax, carnauba wax); titanium dioxide (E 171); saccharose.

Dosage form
Intestinal soluble tablets.

Pharmacological properties
Natamycin is a broad-spectrum polyene antibiotic active against pathogenic fungi, including yeast and especially Candida albicans.
The drug has no sensitizing ability. No case of natamycin allergy was detected during treatment with the drug or during its industrial production and no development of resistance to it was observed.
Due to the enteric coating, the tablet acts only in the intestine.

Pimafucin is used to treat infections of fungal etiology that are caused by microflora that are sensitive to the drug, such as:

  • fungal lesions of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, provoked by low immunity, cachexia, taking antibiotics, cytostatics or glucocorticosteroids;
  • candidal vulvovaginitis;
  • fungal infection of the skin and skin appendages.

Also, the use of Pimafucin is advisable as part of the complex treatment of systemic fungal infections.

Hypersensitivity to any components of the drug.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
The drug Pimafucin can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Method of application and dosage
For the treatment of intestinal candidiasis, adults should be prescribed 1 tablet 4 times a day. Therapy usually lasts 1 week.
Children over 3 years of age should be prescribed 1 tablet 2 times a day. Due to the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of natamycin, the same dose is recommended for children of all ages. Usually the duration of treatment is 1 week.

The drug can be used in children over 3 years of age.

From the gastrointestinal tract: possible nausea and diarrhea (occurring in the first days of tablet use and disappear on their own during treatment).

4 years.
