Povidon-Iodine Ingredients
1 vaginal suppository contains (active ingredient) povidone-iodine – 200 mg; excipient – macrogol 1000.

Pharmacological properties
Povidon-Iodine is an antiseptic and disinfectant product. Released from the complex with polyvinylpyrrolidone on contact with the skin and mucous membranes, iodine forms iodamine cells with proteins, coagulates them and causes the death of microorganisms. Has a fast bactericidal effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (with the exception of Mycobacterium tuberculosis). It is also active against fungi, viruses, protozoa. Has a longer action than inorganic iodine solution.

Indications:

  • candidiasis;
  • trichomoniasis;
  • nonspecific vaginitis.

Mode of application
Remove the Povidon-Iodine suppository from the shell and, after moistening, insert it deep into the vagina in the evening before going to bed in the supine position. During the use of the suppository, the use of sanitary napkins is recommended. It is recommended to apply the product once a day for 7 days. In the case of more severe infections, it is recommended to use the remedy for another 7 days, the dose can be increased to 2 suppositories per day. The product must be used every day (even during menstruation). Before surgical intervention and diagnostic procedures, one suppository is used per day for several days.

Warning
With the development of side effects, drug withdrawal is required. The presence of blood and pus can reduce the antimicrobial effect of the drug. Do not use in case of insect bites, pets and wild animals. The patient should be warned about the need to consult a doctor if systemic reactions occur. It is necessary to ensure that no excess solution remains under the patient. At the site of application, a colored film is formed, which remains until the entire amount of active iodine is released, i.e. its disappearance means the termination of the drug. Coloring on skin and fabrics can be easily washed off with water. Do not heat before use.

Contraindications
Hyperthyroidism; adenoma of the thyroid gland; heart failure; chronic renal failure; Duhring’s dermatitis herpetiformis; simultaneous use of radioactive iodine; premature and newborn babies; children under 8 years of age (ointment for external use); pregnancy; lactation; hypersensitivity to iodine and other components of the drug. The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).

Storage conditions
Store Povidon-Iodine in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C, out of the reach of children.
