Sangviritrin is obtained from the grass Macleaya cordata (Willd.) R.Br. and Macleaya microcarpa (Maxim.) Fedde family of poppies (Papaveraceae). Sanguiritrin is a mixture of bisulfates of two similar in structure and properties of the Quaternary benzophenanthridine alkaloids sanguinarine and cheleritrin.
Sangviritrin has a wide range of antimicrobial activity, acts on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast and micellar fungi. Active against antibiotic-resistant strains of microorganisms. In therapeutic doses it acts bacteriostatically. The mechanism of antimicrobial action of the drug Sanguiritrin is the inhibition of bacterial nuclease, disruption of the permeability of cell walls, division septa, nucleotide structure.

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, fungal lesions with the phenomena of eczematization. Diseases of the liver and kidneys with impaired function.
Special security measures
Do not allow the drug to get on the mucous membranes of the eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
Method of application and dosage
The drug Sangviritrin can be used externally and locally.
For newborns, treat skin folds with the drug 2 times a day during the first 5-6 days of life using a sterile cotton swab.
Treatment of periodontitis is carried out after removing dental deposits and cleaning pathological gum pockets. For 20 minutes, insert thin turundas, abundantly moistened with the drug or its aqueous solution, into the gum pockets. Prepare an aqueous solution of the drug immediately before use. To prepare an aqueous solution, dilute the drug 40 times (1 teaspoon per 200 ml of warm boiled water). Repeat the procedure daily or every other day. The course of treatment consists of 4-6 procedures.
With stomatitis of various etiology, apply the drug 2-3 times a day for 2-5 days to the affected area of the oral mucosa. Children over 5 years of age should be prescribed a rinse with a warm aqueous solution of the drug. For children under 5 years of age, with stomatitis, lubricate the mucous membrane of the oral cavity with an aqueous solution of the drug.
For tonsillitis, treat the tonsils with the drug once a day for 2-5 days. In addition, adults and children over the age of 5 should be prescribed rinsing with a warm aqueous solution of the drug 3-5 times a day. For children under 5 years of age, lubricate the mucous membrane of the oral cavity with this solution 3-4 times a day. The duration of the treatment course is 3-7 days.
For otitis externa, insert turundas moistened with the drug into the ear canal for 10-15 minutes 2-3 times a day. The minimum course of treatment is two weeks. In case of chronic purulent otitis media, adults should instill 5-8 drops 2-3 times a day, children – 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day.
For the prevention of purulent-inflammatory complications, treat the wound daily with a sterile gauze swab, abundantly moistened with the drug, cover it with a sterile napkin moistened with it, and apply a fixing bandage. After 3-4 days, re-treat the wound with the drug and apply a dry sterile bandage. The course is determined by the course of wound healing, with an uncomplicated course, the duration of use is 7-10 days.
For the treatment of infected burns, wounds and ulcers that do not heal for a long time, open infected fractures, use an aqueous solution of the drug. Wash wounds and ulcers with an aqueous solution of the drug, and apply bandages with the solution to the wound surface. For infected burns, bandages should be applied every other day, for other wounds – daily 1-2 times a day. The duration of treatment depends on the nature and severity of the disease.
With endocervicitis, colpitis, vaginitis, erosions of the cervix, douching, irrigation and lotions with a warm aqueous solution of the drug 1-2 times a day. The course of treatment is 5-10 procedures.
For pyodermas, superficial blastomycosis, and dermatomycosis, including those complicated by mixed flora, the drug should be prescribed in the form of bandages or lubrication of the affected area 1-2 times a day. The duration of treatment is determined by the nature and severity of the disease.
The drug can be used in children, including newborns.
In case of overdose may increase the side effects of the drug. Treatment – symptomatic therapy.
