Composition and form of release
Main active ingredient: chlorhexidine hydrochloride, ascorbic acid.
Excipients included in the preparation: sugar, povidone, magnesium stearate, talc, tartrazine, fruit flavor “assorted fruit”.
Available in the form of lozenges, each containing 5 mg chlorhexidine, 50 mg ascorbic acid.
This drug is included in the group of drugs used in the treatment of colds, infectious, inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract.
Among the active ingredients are chlorhexidine hydrochloride, ascorbic acid.
Chlorhexidine hydrochloride is a powerful antiseptic of the bis-guanide group, has a powerful bacteriostatic and bactericidal effect with a wide spectrum, does not contain ethanol.
The effect of the drug is due to the ability to disrupt the structure of cell membranes. It is able to fight staphylococci, streptococci, candida, other aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms pathological for humans.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a natural antioxidant that strengthens the immune system and increases the body’s resistance to infections.
Designed for the prevention and treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx. In particular, for treatment:
- stomatitis, gingivitis, pharyngitis, periodontal disease;
- tonsillitis, the initial stage of angina (as part of complex therapy);
- conditions after tonsillectomy or tooth extraction.
The drug in question is contraindicated for use in cases where the patient has severe hypersensitivity (allergy) to the main or one of the auxiliary components.
Also contraindicated in the presence of large wounds in the oral cavity.
Simultaneous use with iodine preparations is not recommended.
It is not used in pediatrics until the age of 12.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This drug is contraindicated in the treatment of pregnant women.
If it is necessary to take the drug during breastfeeding, lactation is suspended.
Method of administration and dosage
The drug is taken orally by dissolving in the mouth.
adults and children over 12 years old – 4 tablets per day, interval – 3 hours.
It is advisable to use this drug after eating and / or after oral hygiene. It is not recommended to brush your teeth or eat / drink a lot of liquids within 1-2 hours after using the drug.
The duration of treatment is 5-7 days. The maximum duration of treatment is no more than 14 days.
If during this time the disease does not go away, then you should consult a doctor.
Overdose is unlikely.
In case of an overdose, potassium loss, sodium retention may occur. Blood pressure may also rise and edema may occur.
With systemic absorption, diplopia, dizziness, convulsions, drowsiness, sweating, decreased arterial pressure, bradycardia may occur.
Possible depression of the respiratory system, circulatory system.
In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment is recommended – gastric lavage, intake of enterosorbents.
The drug is usually well tolerated.
In some cases, side effects such as:
- allergic reactions;
- sneezing, nasal congestion;
- itching, urticaria, skin rash, contact dermatitis;
- edema, arterial hypertension (with chronic use);
- plaque, tooth enamel pigmentation (brown spots), mouth irritation, parotitis, stomach irritation, diarrhea, sore tongue and lining of the mouth.
