Lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillaceae) are able to form lactic acid, which has a positive effect on intestinal motility and reduces flatulence. In its presence, the absorption of phosphorus, calcium, iron improves. Lactic acid bacteria have a pronounced antagonistic activity against pathogenic microorganisms, have an immunostimulating effect, promoting the production of cytokines in the intestine, antibodies, stimulate the synthesis of interferon-gamma by lymphocytes, increase the activity of phagocytes, natural killer cells. Thus, they increase the body’s resistance to certain diseases. Lactic acid bacteria are effective in antibiotic-associated diarrhea, which occurs when the activity and composition of the normal microflora of the human digestive tract is disturbed. Normalization of the intestinal microflora has a beneficial effect on the intestinal passage. They have a beneficial effect on the immune parameters involved in allergic reactions. Reduce blood cholesterol levels, break down lactose. Lactobacillus plantarum 299v is resistant to gastric juice, bile acids, can firmly attach to entero-, colonocytes, thereby depriving the pathogenic flora of the ability to attach to the cells of the intestinal mucosa, damage them. Staying Lactobacillus plantarum 299v in the gastrointestinal tract helps to improve its health, improve intestinal permeability, helps to reduce or eliminate functional bowel disorders.
