Description

Composition and form of release
The main active ingredient is silver sulfadiazine. It is produced in the form of an ointment, sold packaged in glass jars and tubes, used for external use.
Indications
Sulfargin ointment is used for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes, for the treatment of purulent wounds and burns, trophic ulcers, as well as bedsores, skin transplantation, which are characterized by a slowdown in healing due to tissue trophic disorders. Sulfargin is effective in the treatment in the first phase of injury, with mild discharge, and is also used to treat fresh burns of the 1st – 3rd degree and the 3rd phase of the wound process, including stump wounds (remnant of an amputated limb).
Sulfadiazine has an antimicrobial effect on gram-positive and gram-negative microbes and mycoses (fungus). The effectiveness of sulfadiazine is due to the antimicrobial ability of silver ions, which harmoniously complements sulfonamides. Silver ions are adsorbed on the surface of microbial cells and have a bacteriostatic effect. The ointment has no necrolytic or mutagenic properties and is characterized by moderate osmotic activity.
Contraindications
It is forbidden to use for the treatment of children under 3 months of age, including premature babies, who are allergic to sulfonamide drugs, as well as for the treatment of wounds with abundant fluid secretion (exudation) and patients with porphyria.
Application during pregnancy and lactation

Method of administration and dosage
Apply Sulfargin ointment to the wound surface with a thin layer twice a day. The wound is pretreated with antiseptics, removing the remnants of dead (necrotic) tissue. It is permissible to leave the wound open, or cover it with a gauze bandage. Do not exceed the maximum dose of the drug (0.3 g per application). The duration of the course of treatment (3 weeks) should not be exceeded.
The final decision on the type and duration of treatment is made by the attending physician.
