Teraflu is used for symptomatic treatment for colds and flu. Effectively copes with the following symptoms: fever, headache, muscle pain and aches, nasal congestion, runny nose.
Composition and form of release
Each sachet contains: paracetamol (650 mg), phenylephrine hydrochloride (10 mg), pheniramine maleate (20 mg).
Auxiliary components: silicon dioxide, sucrose, anhydrous citric acid, natural lemon flavors, sodium citrate dihydrate, calcium phosphate, maltodextrin, potassium acesulfame, yellow dyes D&C No. 10 (E104), FD&C No. 6 (E110).
Theraflu Extra With Lemon Flavor is produced in powder form for oral solution.
This is a combination medicine for the common cold. Paracetamol blocks the production of prostaglandins in the brain by inhibiting the enzyme COX, acting on the brain centers of pain, temperature regulation. Has antipyretic, moderate analgesic effect. Phenylephrine has an alpha-adrenomimetic, vasoconstrictor effect (reduces edema, hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, the severity of exudative phenomena, restores free breathing, reduces pressure in the paranasal cavities, middle ear). Pheniramine has decongestant, anti-allergic properties.
Theraflu Extra Lemon Flavor is used to relieve the symptoms of influenza, other acute respiratory viral infections, accompanied by high fever, cough, lacrimation, headaches, runny nose, nasal congestion, joint / muscle pain.
Theraflu Extra Lemon Flavor should not be prescribed:
- with allergies to components;
- with intolerance to excipients;
- with pyloroduodenal obstruction;
- with acute pancreatitis;
- with severe liver and / or kidney dysfunction;
- with hyperthyroidism;
- with heart disease (severe arterial hypertension, severe atherosclerosis, tendency to vasospasm, coronary heart disease, severe arrhythmia);
- with chronic alcoholism;
- when taking tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, monoamine oxidase inhibitors;
- with prostatic hyperplasia;
- with obstruction of the bladder neck;
- with angle-closure glaucoma;
- children under 12 years old.
- with pheochromocytoma;
- with bronchial asthma, COPD;
- with alcoholism;
- with diabetes mellitus;
- with blood diseases;
- with epilepsy;
- with congenital hyperbilirubinemia (Gilbert’s syndrome, Dubin-Johnson syndrome, Rotor syndrome).
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Teraflu Extra Lemon Flavor is not prescribed during these periods.
Method of administration and dosage
Theraflu Extra Lemon Flavor is indicated for oral (oral) intake regardless of food, but not on an empty stomach.
Immediately before taking the contents of the sachet, pour hot water, stir until completely dissolved.
Standard dose: adults, children from 12 years old – one sachet every 4-6 hours.
The minimum interval between doses is 4 hours.
The maximum duration of treatment (without medical supervision) is 3-5 days.
Symptoms: vomiting, pallor, headaches, lack of appetite, abdominal pain, liver damage (including insufficiency), metabolic acidosis, encephalopathy, coma, acute renal failure, cardiac arrhythmia, increased blood pressure, reflex bradycardia.
In case of overdose, it is recommended to seek emergency medical attention. Apply methionine (oral) or acetylcysteine (intravenous) in the first 48 hours after an overdose. Symptomatic therapy is indicated.
Allergic manifestations, itching, dyspeptic disorders (nausea, diarrhea), changes in the blood test (leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, methemoglobinemia, hemolytic, aplastic anemia), increased blood pressure, sensation of dizziness, headaches, insomnia, reflex bradycardia, nephrotoxicity, bronchospasm.
