Teraflu is used for symptomatic treatment for colds and flu. Effectively copes with the following symptoms: fever, headache, muscle pain and aches, nasal congestion, runny nose.
Composition and form of release
The teraflu is introduced in a powder to prepare a solution for ingestion. The active substances are phenylephrine hydrochloride, pheniramine maleate, paracetamol.
Theraflu is used to treat the symptoms of infectious and inflammatory diseases, accompanied by high body temperature, chills, headache, sneezing, muscle pain, body aches, runny nose and nasal congestion.
Theraflu drug is contraindicated in patients with diabetes mellitus, sucrose or isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, alcoholism, portal hypertension and hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Reception of Theraflu is unacceptable in combination with beta-blockers, tricyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors. The drug is not prescribed for children under 12 years of age, women at the stage of pregnancy and lactation.
The drug is prescribed with caution to patients with arterial hypertension, severe forms of atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries, angle-closure glaucoma, congenital hyperbilirubinemia, pheochromocytoma, hyperthyroidism, blood diseases, prostatic hyperplasia, bronchial asthma, hepatic dehydrogenase deficiency;
Application during pregnancy and lactation
During clinical studies, it was found that Theraflu is safe for pregnant women and women at the lactation stage, however, its effect on the development of the fetus and newborn is poorly understood, therefore, it is used in the therapy of this category of patients in extremely important cases.
If the appointment of the drug is necessary for a woman at the lactation stage, then the patient is recommended to stop breastfeeding during therapy.
Method of administration and dosage
Theraflu is taken orally, after dissolving the drug in a glass of warm water. If necessary, a little sugar can be added to the glass with the preparation. Theraflu is taken in a dosage of one packet at a time. It is allowed to use no more than 3 packages per day, the minimum interval between taking the drug is 4 hours. If taking the drug for three days did not allow achieving the desired therapeutic effect, it is recommended to replace it with any other alternative remedy.
An overdose of Teraflu is characterized by the development of epigastric pain, nephrotoxic and hepatotoxic action. In particularly severe cases, the development of liver failure, an increase in the activity of liver enzymes, hepatonecrosis, encephalopathy and coma are observed.
To eliminate the symptoms of an overdose, the patient is given gastric lavage, activated charcoal and symptomatic treatment are prescribed.
Sometimes taking Theraflu is accompanied by the development of allergies, a decrease in the speed of psychomotor reactions, increased drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, abdominal pain, increased blood pressure, urinary retention, increased eye pressure.
Storage conditions and periods
Theraflu must be stored out of the reach of children, as well as dry and protected from light. Storage duration is 2 years.
